The birds are migrating and we are feeling pulled to get outside!

We’ll be hosting a pop-up birding event where you can sit and/or meander with us at Rock Creek Park on September 17th, 8 - 10 AM.

One group will sit at the benches and/or the picnic tables across from the Rock Creek Nature Center to soak in the goodness that are the big old trees and edge habitat. We can chat, laugh, and also hold space to be a bit more quiet and invite the birds in.

Another group will meander towards a beloved, informal trail by the Maintenance building - or the nearby horse trail - where we have had fantastic luck in the past seeing migrating warblers against a canopy of vines and trees. We will slowly move and mostly stay in one place once we find a good spot.

Everyone is welcome, especially members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), and women. No prior birding experience is necessary - we have amateur birders on our leadership team - and you are welcome to stay for some or all of the event.

Registration is strongly encouraged, but is not required. It’s helpful to get a head-count in order to plan accordingly.
